Privacy Policy

Last updated: 7 July 2026  ·  Applies to the GoTecWeb website and all client services

01. Introduction

GoTecWeb (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy and handling personal information responsibly, transparently, and in compliance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (“POPIA”).

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and what rights you have when you visit our website, request a quote, or become a hosting or web design client.

This policy covers GoTecWeb’s own website and client-facing operations. If you are a visitor to a website we have designed or host for one of our clients, that client’s own privacy policy governs how your information is used — see Section 7 for more detail.

02. Who We Are

GoTecWeb is operated by Fintec Group (Pty) Ltd (Registration No. 2023/522106/07), a South African company with its registered office at 250 Blaauwberg Road, Table View, Cape Town, 7441, South Africa.

For the purposes of POPIA, Fintec Group (Pty) Ltd is the Responsible Party for personal information collected through the GoTecWeb website and our direct client relationships.

03. Information We Collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

  • Identity information: full name, job title, and company name.
  • Contact information: email address and phone number, submitted through our contact form.
  • Business information: industry sector and the nature of your website, hosting, or compliance enquiry.
  • Enquiry content: any details you provide in a message or consultation request.
  • Client account information: billing details, domain and hosting configuration, and technical access information, where you become a paying client.
  • Technical information: IP address, browser type, device type, and general usage data collected automatically when you visit our site.

04. How We Collect Information

  • Directly from you, when you complete our contact form or request a quote.
  • Directly from you, by email or phone, during onboarding and while we provide services to you.
  • Automatically, through standard web server logs and analytics when you browse our site.

05. Lawful Basis for Processing

We only process personal information where at least one of the following applies:

  • You have given your consent by voluntarily submitting a form or message to us.
  • Processing is necessary to take steps at your request prior to entering into a service agreement with us, or to perform a contract we already have with you.
  • Processing is necessary for our legitimate business interests in responding to enquiries and providing quotations, provided this does not override your rights.
  • Processing is required to comply with a legal obligation, such as tax and billing recordkeeping.

06. Purpose of Processing

We use your personal information to:

  • Respond to enquiries and consultation requests.
  • Prepare quotations, proposals, and service agreements.
  • Design, build, host, and maintain your website or hosting environment.
  • Communicate with you about your project, invoices, or ongoing support.
  • Improve our website, services, and customer experience.
  • Meet our legal, tax, and regulatory obligations.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

07. Websites We Build & Host

Where GoTecWeb designs, hosts, or maintains a website on behalf of a client, we act as an operator under POPIA with respect to any personal information that website collects from its own visitors (for example, through a contact form on a client’s site).

  • The client remains the responsible party for that data and is responsible for their own privacy policy and lawful basis for collecting it.
  • We process such data only according to the client’s instructions and the terms of our service agreement with them, and apply appropriate technical and organisational safeguards while it is in our care.
  • If you are a visitor to a website built or hosted by GoTecWeb and have a privacy query, please contact that business directly using the details on their site.

08. Sharing With Third Parties

We may share personal information with trusted third-party service providers who assist us in operating our business, strictly under agreements that require them to protect your information in line with POPIA. These may include:

  • Website hosting, server, and infrastructure providers.
  • Domain registrars and SSL certificate providers.
  • Email and communication service providers.
  • Accounting and administrative service providers, where necessary for invoicing.

We do not share your information with any third party for their own independent marketing purposes without your explicit consent.

09. Cross-Border Transfers

Some of our hosting or infrastructure providers may process or store data outside South Africa. Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient is subject to a law, binding agreement, or certification scheme that provides an adequate level of protection substantially similar to POPIA before any such transfer takes place.

10. Retention of Information

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purpose for which it was collected, or as required by law, tax, or regulatory obligations. Enquiry data that does not progress to a client relationship is periodically reviewed and deleted where it is no longer needed. Client account and billing records are retained for the periods required under South African tax and companies legislation.

11. Security Measures

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, unauthorised access, alteration, or disclosure, including:

  • Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/SSL) across our website and the sites we host.
  • Security monitoring, daily backups, and hardened server configurations on hosted sites.
  • Access controls limiting who within our organisation may view submitted information.
  • Regular review of our security practices as our services evolve.

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; while we work hard to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Cookies & Tracking

Our website may use essential cookies required for basic site functionality, and, where enabled, analytics cookies to help us understand how visitors use our site. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings at any time. Disabling cookies may affect certain site functionality.

13. Your Rights

Under POPIA, you have the right to:

  • Be informed that your personal information is being collected and processed.
  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request correction or update of inaccurate or outdated information.
  • Request the deletion or destruction of your personal information, subject to any legal retention obligations.
  • Object to the processing of your personal information on reasonable grounds.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent.
  • Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator if you believe your information has been mishandled.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details in Section 17 below.

14. Children’s Information

Our services are intended for use by business owners and professionals over the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected a child’s information without appropriate consent, we will take steps to delete it.
